Girls soccer starts strong in Region play

The Lumpkin County varsity girls soccer team ended its four-game winless streak with two Region 7-AAA wins against East Hall and Cherokee Bluff last week.

Lumpkin County’s Queen of the Pitch, Hope Kenney, started off her senior season with the LCHS varsity girls soccer team by becoming the program’s all-time leading goal scorer. The prolific striker is currently at 90 goals and counting for her high school career.

The LCHS rifle team concluded its 2019-2020 regular season with a bang last week when they toppled neighboring rival Dawson County at the start of the week and then shot a season high team score to defeat Gainesville High School to finish the week.

Baseball team evens record ahead of region play

The Lumpkin varsity baseball team finally got the opportunity to play at its home field for the first time during the 2020 season and went 2-1 on the diamond last week to secure a .500 record going into Region 7-AAA play.

The LCMS girls soccer team handed out a decisive 10-0 defeat to the Fannin County Lady Rebels when the two teams met at the Burial Grounds at Cottrell Field to battle it out on the pitch on Thursday, Feb. 27.
