Three Lumpkin wrestlers win State

The LCHS varsity wrestling team enjoyed a healthy dose of success when the Indians took to the mats at the Macon Centreplex for the GHSA Traditional Wrestling State Championship this past weekend, Feb. 13-15.

Lumpkin wrestlers advance to State Tournament

The LCHS varsity wrestling team watched six of seven participating Indian wrestlers and two of four Lady Indians grapple their way to the GHSA Traditional Wrestling State Championship when the team took part in the Sectional tournament hosted by South Forsyth High School on Friday and Saturday, Feb.

Equipped with blazing speed, a cannon for an arm and a knack to get on base, LCHS’s Brighton Harder played an integral role on the LCHS varsity softball team for the past four seasons.

Shortly after press time it was announced that the Lumpkin County High School varsity girls basketball team’s 2019-2020 season was given new life. The Lady Indians received the Class AAA at-large bid following the release of the official GHSA Girls Basketball State Playoff brackets.

After months of offers from a plethora of colleges and universities, LCHS football player Aaron Hopkins made his official decision on where he is going to take his talents after he graduates when he signed with Davidson College at a signing ceremony held at the LCHS auditorium on Wednesday, Jan. 29.

The LCHS varsity wrestling team had seven of its wrestlers advance one step closer to a possible State Championship title when the Indians participated in the Area Traditional tournament hosted at The Lovett School in Atlanta this past Saturday, Feb. 1.

8th grade girls and boys teams earn league runner-up titles

GIRLS TEAM The LCMS eighth grade girls basketball team finished up its 2019-2020 season by winning the Mountain League runner-up title after falling to rival Dawson County in the championship game last week.

Wrestling team ready for Area tourney

The LCHS varsity wrestling team enjoyed much success on the mats last week, including having three of its wrestlers being ranked number one in the state, completely dominating rival White County in dual action and earning a third place team finish at the Burnt Mountain Classic.
