Middle school football caps successful season

It’s the little things. That’s what Darren Glenn says successful programs are built on. And as head coach of the Lumpkin County Middle School football program for the past four years, Glenn has tried to do just that.
LCHS football fans were in for a special surprise during Friday’s game as Cason Brinson, whose disability keeps him from playing the sport he loves with the team he loves, was given the opportunity to run a play, taking the ball 80 yards for the lone touchdown in Lumpkin’s 41-6 defeat at the hands of Cherokee Bluff.

Football team helps make dream come true

Calling plays during a football game is often about seizing opportunities. However, LCHS head coach Caleb Sorrells, who handles the offensive play calling duties on Friday nights took a moment to seize a special opportunity that he says was “bigger than football.
The Lumpkin County girls cross country team was led by Abbie Hilchie, who finished in 16th place overall.  The Lumpkin County boys were led by freshman Ben Sherrill with an 18th place overall finish.

Volleyball team competes in State Sweet 16

The LCHS varsity volleyball team’s historic 2020 season came to an end just days after it earned a first round victory over Murray County in the GHSA State Volleyball Playoffs when the Lady Indians fell to the Sandy Creek Lady Patriots in a close Sweet 16 round match on Saturday, Oct. 24.

Lumpkin just can’t find enough juice against North Hall

Before the LCHS football team faced off against North Hall at The Brickyard on Friday, head coach Caleb Sorrells had just one request for his team. He wanted some juice. “I think this week we just said,...the term we kept using was ‘juice,’” Sorrells said. “We just gotta have some juice.

Softball team’s season ends in first round

The LCHS varsity softball team watched its 2020 season come to an end when the Lady Indians were swept by the Rockmart Lady Yellow Jackets in a best-of-three series in the first round of the GHSA Softball State Playoffs on Tuesday, Oct. 20.

Softball team extends win streak

The LCHS varsity softball team extended its winning streak to 10 straight games after they cruised to a blowout 12-2 victory on the road over region rival North Hall on Tuesday, Oct. 6; improving the Lady Indians’ overall record to 17-7 and the team’s region record to 15-2.
