You can’t ask for anything more...It’s going to be a good year and I hope it doesn’t end early.”

Girls basketball battles their way to State

The LCHS girls basketball team’s ninth straight win meant a little more, leaving head coach David Dowse feeling emotional. “There’s a lot of emotions,” he said. “Happy, relieved, a lot of things.
The LCHS wrestling team managed to punch nine tickets to the GHSA Traditional Wrestling State Tournament. The team sent nine qualified wrestlers and two alternates to compete in Macon each having the chance to cement their legacy in wrestling history as a state champion.

Immediately following the disappointment of not making the Team Duals State Tournament, LCHS Wrestling head coach Sean Hage responded optimistically, saying he wouldn’t be surprised if his whole lineup made it to state as individuals.

The LCHS boys basketball team celebrated the team’s five seniors in their final home game at The Longhouse on Tuesday, Feb. 2, sending them off with a win over West Hall, 68-48. For senior Brian Cunane, that was the most important thing.

Another stretch of dominating performances summarized the week for the Lumpkin County High School girls basketball team as they grabbed two more region wins in commanding fashion over North Hall and Cherokee Bluff.

After a long season of ups and downs, the LCHS wrestling team’s journey to the Team Duals State Tournaments came down to one match. And although the Indians came up just short in the match, falling to Hart County by a score of 31-28, head coach Sean Hage wasn’t disappointed in his team.
