Boys soccer topped by Jackson County

In his second year as head coach of the LCHS boys soccer team, Bill Madigan isn’t asking for too much. He just wants his whole team available. “The two years I’ve been here, we’ve played two matches with our starting 11 and it’s a challenge,” Madigan said.

Girls soccer displays dominance over Chestatee

The Lumpkin County High School girls soccer team took down Chestatee High School in dominating fashion on Tuesday, Feb. 9, ending the game early with a 10-0 mercy rule victory.

Boys basketball season ends in Region Tournament

Entering the season, the expectations for the LCHS boys basketball team were set pretty low by many in the region.
Senior leader Dylan Bodney is excited for one last ride with his friends this season as the 2021 boys soccer season gets underway. “Knowing that it can stop at anytime, due to Coronavirus, I think I see everyone giving it their all,” Bodney said. “All 11 of us out there giving it 100 percent. You can’t ask for anything more...It’s going to be a good year and I hope it doesn’t end early.”

Girls basketball battles their way to State

The LCHS girls basketball team’s ninth straight win meant a little more, leaving head coach David Dowse feeling emotional. “There’s a lot of emotions,” he said. “Happy, relieved, a lot of things.
The LCHS wrestling team managed to punch nine tickets to the GHSA Traditional Wrestling State Tournament. The team sent nine qualified wrestlers and two alternates to compete in Macon each having the chance to cement their legacy in wrestling history as a state champion.

Immediately following the disappointment of not making the Team Duals State Tournament, LCHS Wrestling head coach Sean Hage responded optimistically, saying he wouldn’t be surprised if his whole lineup made it to state as individuals.

The LCHS boys basketball team celebrated the team’s five seniors in their final home game at The Longhouse on Tuesday, Feb. 2, sending them off with a win over West Hall, 68-48. For senior Brian Cunane, that was the most important thing.

Another stretch of dominating performances summarized the week for the Lumpkin County High School girls basketball team as they grabbed two more region wins in commanding fashion over North Hall and Cherokee Bluff.

A controversial finish marred a crucial matchup between the LCHS boys basketball team and North Hall on Tuesday, January 26, as the Indians fell by one point on a last second score from the Trojans, 53-52.

Lumpkin County girls soccer readies for season

After the devastation of losing the majority of what they feel would’ve been a successful season, the LCHS girls soccer team is ready to begin again in 2021. And it’s that feeling of having the game suddenly ripped out from under you that head coach Don Brock says is driving his team this year.
