Girls basketball looks to continue strong play toward final part of season

As the girls basketball regular season nears its end, the LCHS girls basketball team stayed on track toward its season-long goal with a 67-46 victory over Gilmer County on Friday. Head coach David Dowse was happy with the region-win, but says his team still hasn’t reached its potential.

Wrestling team nearly makes State Duals

After a long season of ups and downs, the LCHS wrestling team’s journey to the Team Duals State Tournaments came down to one match. And although the Indians came up just short in the match, falling to Hart County by a score of 31-28, head coach Sean Hage wasn’t disappointed in his team.

A close loss in their first matchup against Gilmer County gave Friday night’s rematch crucial implications in the region. LCHS senior Brian Cunane said his team wasn’t in the right mindset before the first game against the Bobcats and came ready to make up for the loss.

The Lumpkin County girls basketball team’s nine-game win streak that led to the team’s No. 1 ranking in the state in its classification was snapped on Tuesday in an overtime thriller against White County, as a part of a 1-1 week for the Indians.

Girls basketball continues outstanding season

After landing in the No. 2 spot in the state rankings for AAA, the Lumpkin County High School girls basketball team proved they belonged last week with three region wins by a combined score of 235-98, which earned them the No. 1 spot in this week’s official GHSA rankings.

Wrestling team tops North Springs on Senior Night

The LCHS Varsity Wrestlers culminated a season’s worth of ups and downs in their final home match and Senior Night, on Tuesday, January 5 in the Tribe House.

Strong defense helps Indians top West Hall

The Lumpkin County boys basketball team overcame a below average shooting performance to take a wire-to-wire victory over West Hall on Friday by a final score of 54-30. Head coach Michael Parker reiterated to his team the importance of rebounding and defending when the shots aren’t falling.
