Baseball team looks to exceed expectations this season

As the LCHS Varsity Baseball team prepares for the upcoming region schedule, head coach Jonathan Gastley says this is a team unlike any he’s had in his time at Lumpkin. “It’s just a really unique group,” Gastley said.

Middle school soccer continues winning ways

By Esteban Ramirez / The Nugget The Lumpkin County Middle School boys and girls kicked off their home schedules against Pickens County last week with both teams continuing to be successful.
Freshman phenom Averie Jones changes her shot in mid air to duck under the arms of her defender and put the ball back up for a lay in. Jones led the charge, scoring nine of her 27 points in a wild third quarter that saw the Indians increase their lead from six to 26 en route to a Sweet 16 victory.

Lumpkin girls basketball advances to Final Four

UPDATE: The LCHS girls basketball team has advanced to the Final Four with its 64-55 win over Pierce County in the Elite Eight on Tuesday. The Indians are set to host their Final Four matchup with Cross Creek this Friday, March 5 at the Lumpkin County High School gym.

Lumpkin girls soccer earns back-to-back wins

After a couple of tough losses, the Lumpkin County High School girls soccer team got back on track with two decisive wins in back-to-back nights. The Indians traveled to Rabun Gap on Thursday, bringing home a 9-0 victory followed by a matchup with Union County on Friday, which the Indians took 3-0.

Baseball team looks for consistency after two-game split

The Lumpkin County High School baseball team split a two game event at Pickens County High School on Saturday, winning the first game 10-6 over Pickens before falling to Wheeler High School 11-3 in the second game.

The Lumpkin County High School girls soccer team dropped its first game of the season on Friday to Jackson County, 4-0 at West Jackson Middle School. Head Coach Don Brock called the game “a wake up call.

In his second year as head coach of the LCHS boys soccer team, Bill Madigan isn’t asking for too much. He just wants his whole team available. “The two years I’ve been here, we’ve played two matches with our starting 11 and it’s a challenge,” Madigan said.

Entering the season, the expectations for the LCHS boys basketball team were set pretty low by many in the region.
