With Thanksgiving break in full swing, the LCHS boys basketball team took no break from their action, winning the Piedmont College Hardwood Classic in dramatic fashion on Wednesday, Nov. 25.
The Lady Indians defense was stout in their game against Franklin County as MaKenzie Caldwell (left) and Madison Powell put pressure on the ball-handler in hopes of forcing a turnover. The suffocating Lumpkin defense allowed only 20 points in its tournament finale, walking away with a 2-1 record to start the season.

Girls basketball takes third in season-opening tournament

After falling to one of the top teams in the state on Monday, the LCHS girls basketball team responded in its final game of the Jackson EMC Tipoff Classic at Jefferson High School, dominating the Franklin County Lions to a 57-20 victory to take third place in the season-opening tournament.

The LCHS varsity softball team received high honors after their 2020 State Playoff appearance season when third baseman Lauren English was named Region 7-AAA Player of the Year and six other Lady Indian players were selected for the Region 7-AAA All-Region team.
