Letendre named top teacher at Long Branch

Third grade teacher Ashley Letendre has been named the 2025 Teacher of the Year representing Long Branch Elementary School. Letendre brings to the table a combined 17 years of elementary and middle school teaching expertise, including in other states with significantly larger school systems.

A star-spangled salute is in order for Dahlonega’s veterans this week. Your hometown newspaper is joining with local businesses and organizations to salute the contributions and sacrifices of Lumpkin County residents who have proudly served their country in the Armed Forces!

Majority of Lumpkin voters choose Trump and say “yes” to proposed amendments

Voters have let their voices be heard in Election 2024.  According to unofficial results posted online at approximately 9:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Lumpkin County has overwhelmingly chosen Republican candidate Donald Trump for President of the United States and incumbent Rich McCormick for the U.S.

Gold Rush royalty ready to lead 70th anniversary fest

Kerri Johnson, Executive Director of local transitional housing community Jeremiah’s Place, has been selected as the Grand Marshal of the 2024 Gold Rush Days Festival, while local residents Jimmy and Cheryl Berry have been chosen as King and Queen.
