It was bigger and better than ever.  Despite freezing temperatures at the starting line, the field of competitors gathered next to Hancock Park on Saturday morning. An enthusiastic group of runners, ranging from kids to adults and even pets, readied themselves for the third annual Wimpy Mile.

McKinney shines as Lumpkin's STAR student

Lumpkin County High School Principal Billy Kirk stopped by senior Will McKinney’s Calculus class recently with a big announcement to make: the name of the STAR student for 2023/2024. When Kirk revealed that McKinney had earned the honor, his peers broke out in applause.

Staffing for the new Pinetree Recreation Center has officially begun, as developer Carroll Daniel Construction puts the finishing touches on the $12.9 million facility ahead of its anticipated grand opening this spring.
