A group of around 30 interested citizens and candidates gathered at the election office on Short Street Tuesday night to view results after polls closed on the May 21 General Primary.   At close to 9 p.m.

Deputies Andrew Adams and Kevin Culver recently responded to reports of a cold-blooded intruder in the basement of Jamie Regan’s residence. The slithering squatter was cranky, cornered and measured in at a little more than six feet. “Black rat snake,” said Regan via email to The Nugget.

The new Pinetree Recreation Center made a splash last Friday as its doors were finally opened for an informal tour with local leaders. The new $12.9 million facility will hold an official grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on May 25.

The beginning of a new era kicked off earlier this week for residents of Dahlonega as the long-awaited Northeast Georgia Medical Center Lumpkin opened its doors for the first time.

Interested citizens packed out the Parks & Rec meeting room last Thursday night, as the Lumpkin County Republican Party hosted a lively forum open to all 16 local political candidates.

Battered ballfields are set to receive $109K upgrade

Yahoola Creek Park is getting a major face lift in the form of $109,000 worth of repairs to five different ballfields. The request from County staff was approved unanimously by the Lumpkin County Board of Commissioners at their March 19 regular session.
