Remembering Sharon Hall, a longtime reporter who made a difference

Sharon Hall, beloved mother, grandmother, longtime Nugget reporter and champion of local non-profits, died Sunday night. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 74 in her home in Jacksonville, Fla. She leaves behind a town full of friends, adopted family members and admirers.

Dahlonega celebrates arrival of Christmas with Lighting of the Square

The joy of the Christmas season was in the air last Friday as thousands of visitors and locals gathered to celebrate the annual lighting of the Public Square.

Letendre named top teacher at Long Branch

Third grade teacher Ashley Letendre has been named the 2025 Teacher of the Year representing Long Branch Elementary School. Letendre brings to the table a combined 17 years of elementary and middle school teaching expertise, including in other states with significantly larger school systems.

Majority of Lumpkin voters choose Trump and say “yes” to proposed amendments

Voters have let their voices be heard in Election 2024.  According to unofficial results posted online at approximately 9:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Lumpkin County has overwhelmingly chosen Republican candidate Donald Trump for President of the United States and incumbent Rich McCormick for the U.S.
