Lumpkin County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to reopen Yahoola Creek Park and Lake Zwerner Reservoir Trail beginning Thursday, April 23 at 7 a.m. The opening does, however, carry some restrictions.

There are some things even coronavirus can’t cancel. And newlyweds Brittany and Trey Greer are proof of that. “Take that coronavirus,” wrote Trey in his first Facebook post after the couple married last month. Ultimately, true love conquered COVID. But it didn’t come easy.

City issues stay-at-home order, tightens restrictions

Daycares facilities, barber shops, fitness centers and many other businesses deemed “non-essential” will be forced to close in the City of Dahlonega after the council tightened the restrictions of its coronavirus-related State of Emergency while also issuing a stay-at-home order for city residents.
The campground gates at Dockery Lake were closed on March 21, after the USDA Forest Service shutdown all campgrounds and group recreation areas in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest due to concerns over the spread of the coronavirus.

Lumpkin’s confirmed cases of coronavirus double

The total of confirmed coronavirus cases in Lumpkin County doubled overnight as the reported count jumped from four to eight, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health results released Tuesday afternoon. The same happened in nearby Dawson County as the total doubled from five to 10.
