Lumpkin County Commissioners are hoping the 12 members of the Georgia National Guard 48th Brigade come to the December 17, 6 p.m. meeting of the BOC. “I think it would be proper to honor those who served from Lumpkin County,” said Commissioner Bobby Mayfield.

Downtown hotel details still unknown

As the new downtown hotel rises higher above the historic district, particulars of the project have been slow to emerge. But one big detail may soon be revealed, according to land owner and local business owner Roberta Green-Garrett.

LCHS dedicated drummers refine their rhythm

While summer vacation is all about relaxing for most students, for two of the LCHS Band of Gold’s finest percussionists, there was very little relaxing to be had this past summer.

Library project progresses toward March opening

From the outside, Lumpkin County’s new library on Morrison Moore Parkway looks complete. But there’s still plenty of work to be done before the expected grand opening in March of 2020. And the building is much bigger than it looks, said Chestatee Regional Library Director Leslie Clark.
