The annual Veterans Day Parade boasts two WWII veterans including Master Sgt. Arthur (Pete) Hardy. Organized by the Lumpkin County Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee, the parade begins from Courthouse Hill Saturday, Nov. 9, 11 a.m. and winds its way around the Public Square.

Hope Chamblee Galloway

Hope Chamblee Galloway, 73, died at home in Blythewood, S.C. on October 1, 2019. Hope Ann Clegg was born on January 19, 1946, to Ruth and Frank Clegg Jr., in Providence, R.I. After attending Marymount College, she lived in and around Atlanta, Ga. In 1967 she married Jimmy Chamblee.

About a dozen residents of the McDonald Mill Subdivision showed up at last week’s Lumpkin County Board of Commissioners meeting to express their dissatisfaction with the owner of two neighborhood homes being used as short term rentals.

Jacqueline Daniel’s journey to the 2019 Gold Rush Days Grand Marshal began in 2000. It was then when she arrived here as a student at then North Georgia College & State University. Before coming to Dahlonega, Daniel worked with the disabled at her church.

Many people start each day with an early morning exercise. But if your exercise involves an overturned bus and bleeding mannequins, you’re probably a Ranger or a member of Lumpkin County’s Emergency Services. Last week, the 5th Ranger Training Battalion from Camp Frank D.

Dahlonega to host K9 World Finals Oct. 12

Dahlonega is one of 23 venues hosting a Frisbee Dog competition to select world champions. The Atlanta Region will  convene in Dahlonega on Saturday, October 12, when up to 50 competitors will compete with each other and those at the 22 other regions around the World.
