Meet the new coach

For many members of the LCHS football team, Caleb Sorrells is another in a long line of coaches to have taken the reins of the LCHS football team in recent years.

Tea time has arrived for downtown business owner

Helping others has always been Kim Pyron’s cup of tea. But in her new role, it’s her tea that is doing the helping. My Vintage Gypsy Tea’s and Magickal Makings opened on April 1 upstairs at 19 East Main Street and is holding its official grand opening this Saturday.

Tomato sandwich supper contest winners to be announced

They may not like tomatoes (though some may), but judging by results of the Community Helping Place Free Clinics’ first poster contest, the Day Campers at Park & Rec  enjoy using their imaginations, drawing and coloring. About 35 children took part in the contest, ranging in age from 4 to 12.

Several mom-and-pop shop owners of Dahlonega may have felt as though they were dealt a sizable blow when they recently caught word that their newest neighbor in the downtown square could be a franchise business.

Hospital looks forward to re-opening

The hospital on the hill will soon be empty no more. After closing its doors last summer, the facility will host live music, food, fun, games and tours of the newly renovated building in order to mark the opening of Northeast Georgia Medical Center Lumpkin (NGMC Lumpkin).

Christi Spooner is on a mission. She’s taken on the job of overseeing Lumpkin County’s litter program. Perhaps it would be more appropriate to say anti-litter program. The goal, she said, is to “create a program  that will work for the county and the community.
