Jenkins recognized as region Athletic Director of the Year

In the world of Lumpkin County Athletics, the name Nicky Jenkins is commonplace as the go-to guy for just about anything.
Jenkins’ passion for Lumpkin County sports, its players and its coaches is unmistakable to anyone who has seen the LCHS athletic director in action.
And, now it seems that everyone in Region 7-AAA sees it too, as Jenkins was recently named the Region 7-AAA Athletic Director of the Year.
With every school in the region turning in three choices in the order of whom it believed was deserving of the award and the region president tallying those votes, Jenkins emerged as the winner of this year’s honor.
“It’s a huge honor to be chosen by my peers,” said Jenkins. “But, it’s never been about me. That’s not why I do what I do. For me, it’s all about the kids.”
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Rob Brown believes Jenkins is more than deserving of the recognition.
“I am extremely proud for Coach Jenkins to be recognized in this manner,” said Brown. “He is an outstanding employee and always works to make LC better. I believe his humility, his professionalism and his ability to give every sport the attention, focus and support they need to be successful is what makes him special. This is a much-deserved honor for a hard-working team player.”
