With precautions in place by the City of Dahlonega to combat the spread of COVID-19 including cancellations of the annual parade and fireworks show, Saturday’s Fourth of July Celebration lacked the luster, and crowd, Dahlonega is used to for the holiday.

After 33 years of business in Dahlonega, the idea of closing Vintage Music, Dahlonega’s beloved music store, due to the impacts from COVID-19 was a little too real for its owner John Grimm. “When the virus started, business slowed down pretty much to a halt,” Grimm said.

Telling the story of an entire school year is seldom an easy task. When this year’s LCHS yearbook staff began planning the 2019-2020 yearbook last spring, they had no idea how much the theme they eventually chose would relate to the world the books are now being distributed into.

Gyms work out re-opening process

For 42 days and 42 nights, gyms in Dahlonega were closed. When Dahlonega Fitness Center opened back up on Monday, May 4, a small crowd was already waiting at 7:45 a.m., ready to get back to work.
