Rainbow Children's Home celebrates 20 years of service

In the 20 years Rainbow Children’s Home has existed, its mission has not changed. That mission is to provide a safe haven, a place where children who have been removed from their home due to neglect, and often abuse, and those who find themselves in state care can heal, grow and be safe.

Kelley was honored in front of friends and family as well as former commissioners and other elected officials of Dahlonega and Lumpkin County, during the Nov. 17 Board of Commissioners meeting.

Class partners with City to beautify downtown

Lumpkin County High School agriculture students are working hard on a project that will help beautify the downtown area and help them learn by using hands-on experience.

UNG breaks ground on new business building

Franchise named for downtown hotel project

The long-awaited downtown hotel on E. Main Street is finally nearing completion. According to owner Roberta Green-Garrett the 75-room hotel will be known as "Holiday Inn Express and Suites.

County finalizes paving project list

The Lumpkin County Board of Commissioners decided the fate of over 32 million pounds of asphalt when it voted to approve the list of roads to be paved in 2021 at its last meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 20. The roads, covering just over 12 miles in Lumpkin County, would cost an estimated $1.

Vets battle rabies and raise 4-H funds

Lumpkin County 4-H and VCA Chestatee Animal Hospital are teaming up to stop the spread. Of rabies, that is. Volunteers from VCA Chestatee Animal Hospital and Lumpkin County 4-H will be hosting a drive through rabies clinic on Oct. 31 at Lumpkin County Middle School from 12 to 2 p.m.

A sewer leak sent city employees scrambling on a recent weekend as they worked to contain and repair a spill that spewed an estimated 5,000 gallons into a tributary of Cane Creek, according to Dahlonega officials.
