Cross Country begins season with strong showing

The Lumpkin County High School Cross Country team started its season out strong at the Run to the Hills meet at Meek’s Park in Blairsville on Thursday, August 19, highlighted by a first place showing from the boys team to claim the trophy.
While not the final result head coach Caleb Sorrells wanted, he contends that it was “a different loss” than last year’s 33-3 blowout defeat at the hands of the same Franklin County Lions, showing a glimpse of his team’s improvement.

Football team looks improved in loss to Franklin

First he rolled to his right. Having just picked up a huge chunk of field and a first down by scrambling and plowing through defenders the play before, it then looked like Cooper Scott would try that again as he tucked the ball and moved up through the pocket.

Lumpkin softball team splits results in wild week

After enduring a wacky start of mixed results that included a come from behind walk-off win, the bloodied face of the starting shortstop, a short-handed loss and a game “rained out,” with almost no rain, head coach Joseph Jones is still optimistic about his team, but is ready for some normalcy.

Softball team looks for big season through ‘small ball’

As softball season begins, LCHS returns to action with seven seniors and one destination in mind. “I want to win a Region Championship. I want to go to the playoffs,” head coach Joseph Jones said. “I want to go to Columbus again and the girls do too.

Although the season of softball nears for both the Lumpkin County Middle School and High School Softball teams, the program has already been hard at work for much of the summer. “This team has done a great job of putting the work in this summer,” LCHS head coach Joseph Jones said of his team.

As the Lumpkin County High School football team prepares for another season of battles on the gridiron, the program is once again offering its biggest supporters and fans a first look at the 2021 team. The season’s arrival has LCHS Football head coach Caleb Sorrells excited and ready to kick off.
