Boys basketball tops East Forsyth in close finish

After coming up just short in the pressure situations of several close games to start the season, the Lumpkin boys basketball team finally came out on top in the final minutes against East Forsyth on Tuesday, snagging the win 50-45.

Girls basketball shows dominance with victory over Union

After a wild week for the Indians over the Thanksgiving Break, the LCHS Girls Basketball team was back to business against Union County on Thursday, taking care of the Panthers with relative ease, 84-49.

Just mere inches from sinking a last second shot to tie the game and send it to overtime, the LCHS Boys Basketball team were unable to finish the deal on Thursday night against Union County, falling 55-53 to the Panthers.

After a 1-2 performance in the Jackson EMC Tip Off Classic, including the team’s first win of the season, head coach Michael Parker felt he came away from the Thanksgiving tournament with a fair assessment of his team. That assessment: that there’s still a lot of work to be done.

Wrestling team looks to beat expectations this season

A year after taking 13 wrestlers to the GHSA Wrestling State Championship Tournaments last season, head coach Sean Hage and the LCHS wrestling team are ready to make another run this season and continue “raising the standard.

The North Georgia sports world was shocked on Sunday night as the news broke that Lumpkin County High School Girls Basketball coach David Dowse turned in his resignation earlier in the day and would be stepping down as head coach immediately.

An uncharacteristically tough shooting night seemed to be coming to an end when Jones Harris finally got a 3-pointer to fall, starting a 10-3 run that got the Indians back into contention for the final minutes of their season opening game on Thursday against Flowery Branch.
