Wrestling team prepares for critical parts of season

With the varsity wrestling season rocking along, the Lumpkin County squad has been using every competition to better itself. It’s been a challenging season so far since it’s been tough to put its best wrestlers in their strongest spots.

Girls dominate Flowery Branch ahead of holiday tourney

Entering Christmas break with a 10-1 record after the Indians 62-24 win over Flowery Branch last Monday, Lumpkin County girls basketball head coach David Dowse felt it was his team’s most dominant performance of the season.

The Lumpkin County High School Rifle team continued its undefeated season on Monday, Dec. 13, defeating the Buford Wolves in a closely contested match, 1137-1109.

Flowery Branch holds back boys team despite late push

In a game with, as head coach Michael Parker described it, “a lid on the basket” keeping the Indians shots out, the LCHS boys basketball team struggled against the Falcons of Flowery Branch and concluded play before the holiday break with a 55-44 loss.
The LCHS Girls Basketball team is 4-0 in region play, however the team views each victory as just a step toward its long term goals.

Girls basketball continues successful season with two wins

Two more region games and two more dominant performances from Lumpkin County sums up the past week for the girls basketball team, who took out Gilmer and North Hall by a combined 68 points and improved its record to 4-0 in the region. Lumpkin took a win over Gilmer County 67-27 on Tuesday, Dec.

Girls basketball tops Region opponent East Forsyth

For the reigning Region 7-AAA Champs, it didn’t take long for the varsity girls basketball team to jump back into the driver’s seat once again, reclaiming first place with the opening game of region play as Lumpkin welcomed new region foe East Forsyth in with a near 50-point win, 79-35.

Rifle team sets new record in win over Dawson

The Lumpkin County High School rifle team set a new school record, shooting for a team score of 1,158 out of 1,200 in its match against Dawson County on Monday, Dec. 6. Lumpkin won the match 1158-1055, with Liv Lusky qualifying for state by shooting a 293 in the match.
