The Lumpkin County High School Girls Basketball team took down East Forsyth 66-51 on Tuesday in the 7 AAA Region Championship Final to complete a perfect sweep of all of its region foes in both regular and postseason play and claim its second straight Region Championship.

What was originally labeled as a “season of growth” turned to a competitive season that saw the Indians just one game away from a state tournament berth after staving off elimination in the first round of the 7-AAA Region Tournament on Tuesday.

Lumpkin rifle team continues perfect record

The Lumpkin County High School Rifle team picked up another win on Tuesday, Feb. 8 over Riverside Military Academy to extend their perfect record to 8-0 on the season. The team combined for a score of 1,136 out of a possible 1,200 points, led by sophomore Liv Lusky.

Indians rally for season-saving win

It took all 32 minutes on Tuesday for the LCHS Boys Basketball team to punch their ticket into the second round of the 7 AAA Region Tournament against West Hall, taking the game 53-48. Now the Indians are only one win away from clinching a spot in the state tournament.

Girls basketball handles tough test versus White County

Winning a record 23 regular season games including all 14 region games, the Lumpkin County girls basketball team completed the most successful regular season in program history with perhaps its toughest test of the season on Thursday, edging out rival White County, 64-52.

Lumpkin will send 10 wrestlers to State

After 13 hours of wrestling in a packed LCHS gym that hosted Sectionals for both AAA and AAAA, Lumpkin is set to send 10 wrestlers to state as seven boys and two girls qualified for the state tournaments with one additional wrestler in as an alternate on the boys side.

Maddy Moyer became the second state-qualifier of the season for the Lumpkin County Rifle Team on Monday, January 24 during the team’s match against Buford, shooting a 293/300 including a perfect 100 score in the prone position.
