LCHS leading the way in fast growing sport of bass fishing

After starting up the entire program just three years ago, one of Lumpkin County’s newest sports teams is now one of its most competitive, having students compete on a state, national and international level. And that sport is bass fishing.

Lumpkin softball standouts to continue careers at Andrew College

For Lumpkin seniors Emmie Graham and Brooke Temples, their lifelong dream of getting to play softball beyond their years at Lumpkin County High School will soon become a reality, which wasn’t a shock to Graham. “We both prayed about it for a long, long time to be able to play in college,” she said.

UNG Softball punches ticket to National Championships

With a strong crowd presence, dominant pitching and some timely hits, the Lincoln Memorial University softball team had made themselves feel quite at home in Dahlonega on Friday, all but shutting down the Nighthawks as the designated home team in UNG’s own stadium.

University of North Georgia men’s golfer Grant Crowell shot a final round 71 as the No. 4 Nighthawks climbed two spots to 11th in the final round of the 2022 NCAA Division II Men’s Golf National Championships on a rainy Wednesday at TPC Michigan.

Track team finishes season with strong results at State

The Lumpkin County High School Track team finished its season at the GHSA  AAA State Championships Meet in Carrollton with four Top 10 finishes in the state. The performance left head coach Will Mayfield with nothing but optimism for the future of Lumpkin Track.

The Lumpkin County High School football team finished its Spring season with a bang on Friday, traveling to Armuchee High School in Rome for a scrimmage, where Lumpkin won 48-0.
