Football team welcomes squads for training camp

For new Lumpkin County High School football coach Heath Webb, the commotion seen last week as teams from five different schools came together on the LCHS football field was just simply taking advantage of an opportunity.

Simpson to follow childhood dream to play in college

Despite the struggles that often overshadowed any success for LCHS football in the last four years, Cameron Simpson had a feeling his hard work would pay off. “The struggle is just something that comes with playing the sport, I’ve always liked to endure it,” he said.

Basketball team battles tough summer competition

The Lumpkin County High School boys basketball team is back in the gym this summer, which for head coach Michael Parker, is right where he’s wanted to be for months. “I love being back in the gym with our guys,” Parker said.

Soccer summer camp sees enthusiastic participation

The future’s so bright for the Lumpkin County soccer program that coach Don Brock was wearing shades on Thursday. Or maybe that was just because of the glaring sun.
Recent Lumpkin graduate Chloe Carver signed with Montreat College to be a part of the school’s first ever women’s wrestling team. Carver was a mainstay with Lumpkin for three years, wrestling against both boys and girls, helping to build the girls wrestling program at Lumpkin. Now she looks to do the same as a part of Montreat’s first recruiting class of women wrestlers.
