Lumpkin football can’t hold back Dawson in region matchup

In a game that would effectively decide the Region Championship, Lumpkin County saw their chance at victory fade as Dawson County pulled away in the second half on Friday night to earn a 38-10 win. Indians head coach Heath Webb said Lumpkin had their work cut out for them.

Lumpkin softball wraps up season with playoff trip

The Lumpkin County High School varsity softball squad competed in the GHSA Softball Super Regionals recently. After wins against Dawson and Gilmer in the Region 7-AAA Tournament, the Indians went on the next week to fall 9-0 to Monroe Area (from Region 8-AAA).

The Lumpkin County varsity football squad continued to play strong through the region portion of the schedule this week, traveling to Cleveland to take on White County.

Raiders team is All-Service Mixed Div. State Champs

Battling teams from all around the state, the Lumpkin County Raiders Team claimed first place in each individual event and therefore first place overall at the All Services State Championship.

The Lumpkin County High School Band of Gold has had a great season performing on the gridiron. To prepare for halftime shows, parades and competitions, the band practices a couple hours a day, three days a week, according to D.I. Brunson, director of bands for Lumpkin County High School.

Lumpkin football prepares to battle White County on the road

The Lumpkin County varsity football team used a bye week to get some extra rest and healing time, as well as time to prepare for their upcoming game this Friday. Lumpkin will travel to Cleveland to face White County in a Region 7-AAA matchup.

Mountain bike team finds podium in recent race

By Cooper Huau / The Nugget  -----------------------  The Lumpkin County mountain bike racing team competed in its third race of the season on October 9. In this race—the Dual at Dauset Trails—the team had two podium finishes.
The Indians battled Gilmer County on the road in a clash of top teams in Region 7-AAA. Lumpkin’s Cal Faulkner came in at quarterback for much of the second half.  Lumpkin earned a 31-28 comeback win.
