Lumpkin wrestling begins season taking on tough teams

The Lumpkin County High School wrestling team competed in their first home meet of the season last week, hosting Flowery Branch, Banks County, and Chestatee in a quad meet. The Indians were able to take down two out of three teams in the competition at the Tribe House.

Girls basketball opens season with victory

By Cannon Crompton The Nugget After plenty of preparation in the off-season, the Lumpkin County varsity girls basketball team returned to regular season action last week, hosting East Jackson. Lumpkin was in control throughout the game, earning a 63-38 victory.

Lumpkin football team concludes outstanding season in playoffs

The Lumpkin County varsity football team’s outstanding season came to a close on Saturday in the playoffs with a 49-21 loss to a tough Oconee County squad. The Warriors went straight to work scoring their first of seven touchdowns with 10:55 remaining in the first quarter.

The Lumpkin County High School boys basketball team will hit the court to start their season at home on Tuesday, Nov. 15 against East Jackson. With a busy offseason, they have high hopes of a successful 2022-23 campaign. Head Coach Michael Parker has an eye on the team’s goals for the season.

It was a great way for the Lumpkin County varsity football squad to finish out the regular season, as the Indians overpowered West Hall for a 48-7 victory at home.

Varsity girls basketball preparing to face challenges of new season

The Lumpkin County girls varsity basketball squad is finishing up their preseason preparation as they get set to begin competition on Tuesday. As the Indians prepare for their first game against East Jackson, they are readying to defend their Class AAA state title as well.

Middle school runners are reigning region champs

The future of Lumpkin County cross-country is looking speedy. And they’ve got the shiny hardware to prove it. Last month the Lumpkin County Middle School boys finished a solid season by placing first overall in the region championship at Clear Creek Middle School on Oct. 6th.
