Lumpkin athletes compete in USA Wrestling events

Lumpkin wrestlers found success on several levels last week as they competed in USA Wrestling tournaments. Freshmen competed in the USA Freshmen State Tournament, while the middle school and elementary teams competed in the USA State Qualifiers.

A total of 13 Lumpkin County wrestlers ventured to Macon Georgia to compete against the state’s best wrestlers for a chance to call themselves champions.

Boys soccer earns two shutouts, girls remain undefeated

It was another successful week for Lumpkin soccer as the Lady Indians defeated Stephens County 10-1 and boys soccer shutout Lakeview Academy and Stephens County last week. On Thursday, Feb. 16, the Lady Indians traveled to Stephens and came away with a big 10-1 victory.

Lumpkin baseball goes 2-1 during busy week

The Lumpkin County High School baseball team went 2-1 in their first three games, beginning with a loss to North Atlanta, before earning two wins against Southeast Whitfield and Union County. On opening day, Lumpkin took on a tough North Atlanta opponent.

Lumpkin girls basketball tops Oconee in first round of State

The Lumpkin County girls basketball team began State competition at home against Oconee on Tuesday, Feb. 21 as the team earned a 72-47 victory to advance in the tournament. Oconee came into the GHSA State Tournament with an 11-16 overall record after taking third in Region 8-AAA.

Girls basketball earns victory on Senior Night

Lumpkin basketball honored their Seniors on Friday night as they hosted the White County Warriors. In what was a night decorated with player cutouts of the athletes and displays of each seniors’ previous accomplishments during their years at the school, the appreciation for the players was clear.

Tennis teams begin season against Forsyth Central

The Lumpkin tennis teams got their season started this week as they took on Forsyth Central. The boys squad was able to come away with a victory over the Bulldogs, while the girls team suffered a defeat. BOYS TEAM The Indians were able to take a hard earned 3-2 victory over Forsyth Central.

Girls soccer tops East Jackson and Union County

The second full week of competition was a successful time for the Lumpkin County varsity girls soccer team. Lumpkin earned a pair of non-region victories against East Jackson and Union County to improve to 4-0 on the season.

Girls basketball defeates Pickens and Dawson ahead of season finale

The Lumpkin County varsity girls basketball squad continued to shine last week as they picked up a pair of important region wins, taking down Pickens County and Dawson County. The girls team is 20-3 overall and sits atop the very strong Region 7-AAA with a 10-1 record.

Soccer teams start regular season with two wins each

It was a great start to the regular season for the Lumpkin County varsity boys and girls soccer teams as both squads earned 2-0 records after defeating North Hall and Jefferson County. The boys kicked off their regular season with a 2-0 win over North Hall (Region 4-AAAA) on Tuesday, Jan. 31.
