Girls soccer ends 2023 campaign in second round of State

The Lumpkin varsity girls soccer team’s outstanding season came to a close last week as the Lady Indians were defeated 5-1 by Bremen High School in the second round of the State playoffs. On April 17, Lumpkin traveled to Bremen to face the top seed from Region 6-AAA.

Baseball team takes third seed as playoffs begin

The Indians celebrated Senior Night last week as they honored seniors Cooper Scott and Landon Greene. The Indians then faced off against Wesleyan in some highly contested games to determine the number two seed in the Region.

Boys tennis earns success in State Tournament

The Lumpkin County varsity boys tennis team has accomplished their goal of winning their first round of the State playoffs. The tournament ended with the Indians taking a 3-1 victory over Franklin County to advance.

Middle school boys soccer wins championship

It was the perfect ending to a literal perfect season, as the Lumpkin County Middle School Soccer team won the Region Championship last week with a come from behind victory over Dawsonville. The Indians didn’t give up a loss, finishing with a 7-0-1 record.

Lumpkin golf teams defeat Johnson at Achasta

The Lumpkin golf squads hosted Johnson High School this week at Achasta Golf Club on what was a beautiful day to be outdoors, as both the boys and girls teams were able to come away with big wins. The boys team remained undefeated at 4-0 following their 187-208 victory over the Knights.

Heroes baseball shows the true spirit of the game

The Lumpkin Heroes program is a group of volunteers and kids with disabilities that come together in display of heartwarming love for both each other and of baseball. The team seemed full of pure joy and full hearts as they took to the field.

Tennis teams celebrate Senior Night

The Lumpkin County High School tennis team hosted their Senior Night on Tuesday that saw them come away with a big win over West Hall. In honor of the event, seniors Will Bicknell and Jack Lowry had the opportunity to compete together in doubles action.

Soccer teams earn region wins during busy week

By Cannon Crompton & Eligha Roper / The Nugget     -------------     It was a winning road trip for the LCHS soccer teams last week as Lumpkin traveled to Ellijay to take on Gilmer where both the girls and boys teams came away with region wins. Later in the week, both Lumpkin teams fell to Wesleyan.

Rifle team advances to State Competition

The Area 6 Region Champion Lumpkin County High School Precision Rifle Team competed in the first round of the GHSA Riflery State Playoffs on March 9, against the Area 8’s Midtown-Grady High School. Lumpkin prevailed in the match with a strong score of 1,159 compared to Midtown-Grady’s 839.
