Eighth grade girls basketball takes down Fannin Rebels

The Lumpkin County eighth grade girls basketball team hosted the Fannin County Rebels last week, in what was a fiercely contested game. The Indians were able to walk away with the 38-32 win but not before they earned the right to do so. The team also took the night to honor their eighth graders.

Lumpkin wrestling impresses in Area Duals

The Lumpkin County High School wrestlers competed in the Area Duals at White County to finish out last week’s competition. Both the girls and boys varsity teams took third place overall and moved on to the next round of the State Duals.

Girls basketball battles top teams at tourney

The Lumpkin County varsity girls basketball team traveled to Greeneville, Tenn. during the Christmas break to compete against some high-level opponents. Lumpkin came into the tournament with a 12-1 record and ranked No. 2 in the state in Class AAA.

High school wrestling team takes on Hook’em Horns tournament

In a field stacked with tough competitors, the Lumpkin County varsity wrestling team took 9th place overall at the Hook’em Holiday Classic at Lambert High School. The large 40-team tournament was held December 29–30 and included some of the best teams in the Southeast.

Boys basketball travels to Charleston for holiday tournament

The Lumpkin County varsity boys basketball team traveled to Charleston, S.C. to compete in the Carolina Invitational December 28-30. It was a large event, consisting of 54 varsity teams, giving Lumpkin the opportunity to test their skills against teams from other states.

The Lumpkin County High School girls wrestling team competed in the War Eagle Invitational Wednesday Dec 21, showing great mental toughness and the desire to win.

Girls basketball unbeaten at Kelly King Holiday Classic

It was a busy week for the Lumpkin varsity girls basketball team, competing in three games in three days at the Kelly King Classic holiday tournament.

Boys basketball earns win during holiday tournament

Lumpkin County High School hosted the Kelly King Classic Dec. 20–22. The Lumpkin County boys team faced some tough competition and earned one victory during the tournament. In their first matchup of the tournament the Indians went up against Cross Keys.

Lumpkin players, coach lead West to win in FCA All-Star Classic

For five of Lumpkin County’s senior players, the end of the season wasn’t the end of competition in 2022, as they were selected to take part in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes East vs. West All-Star Classic game on Dec 12.

Girls basketball tops undefeated Pickens, Gilmer

After the big 90-point win against West Hall and toppling Northview 81-27 last week, the Lumpkin County girls varsity basketball team looked to keep things rolling against two region opponents as they hosted Gilmer on Tuesday and hit the road to battle an undefeated Pickens County team on Friday.
