When they step to the line this weekend, there will be just 100 meters of hurdles standing between them and a chance to go to the State Championship Meet. However, for Madison and Riley Myers, making it this far has already felt special.

With a pair of seventh place performances at the Area Tournament, the LCHS Boys and Girls Golf teams finished their seasons on a high note last week at Apple Mountain.

With a three-run rally in the sixth inning, the Lumpkin County High School baseball team sent off its seniors and head coach in style through an 8-7 win over Tallulah Falls to conclude the 2022 season. Head coach Jonathan Gastley said it’s the way his players deserved to go out.

After becoming known for its miraculous come-from-behind victories all season long, the LCHS Girls Soccer team found itself one miracle finish short of reaching the Final Four, falling 2-0 to Oconee County in the Elite Eight on Monday night to end its season.

Lumpkin track team sending 13 to Sectionals

The Lumpkin County High School Track team is set to send a record-number of athletes to the state sectionals after a solid performance at the Region 7 AAA track and field championships last Thursday and Friday at Cherokee Bluff High School.

Girls soccer wins first two rounds in state tournament

After a six-hour trip to Blackshear to face Pierce County, the LCHS Girls Soccer team finds itself headed to the Elite Eight thanks to a 3-0 win over the Bears on Monday night. Following the win, head coach Don Brock said he’s feeling good about where his team stands in the tournament.

With his team’s victory last Monday, April 11, Lumpkin County High School baseball head coach Jonathan Gastley eclipsed the 200-win mark with Lumpkin’s 6-2 win over Gilmer County on Monday. But for Gastley, the milestone victory was more about his team getting the victory.
Lumpkin’s five eligible to score shooters (from left) Rebecca Chester, Jake Gary, Joshua Molina, Liv Lusky and Maddy Moyer each take on the standing position, known to be the hardest of the three shooting positions. Head coach Ruthanne Conner said she felt this position is where her team separated itself from the opponents in its semifinal victory to send the team to the state finals.

Rifle team to compete in GHSA State Championship

The LCHS Rifle team is once again headed for the GHSA State Championship after a thrashing of Benjamin E. Mays High School in the Tournament Semifinals, 1,155 to 1,050 where two Lumpkin shooters scored over 290 out of 300 possible points.

Boys tennis team ready for State playoffs

The Lumpkin County High School Boys Tennis team is set to make a return to the State Tournament after a win over East Forsyth in the Region Tournament on March 29 put the team in the Top 4 for Region 7 AAA.
