Nugget takes home nine Georgia Press awards

It was a good night for The Dahlonega Nugget at the Better Newspaper Awards banquet as Team Nugget snagged nine Georgia Press Association Awards throughout the evening on Friday, June 3.

In the event of an emergency, the officers of the Dahlonega and UNG Police Departments will officially have each others backs. That was the idea behind a Dahlonega City Council“memorandum of understanding” which was officially approved at last week’s meeting.

What could be more fun to see than high-flying disc dogs in the park? Not much, according to Dahlonega resident Rick Nielsen, owner of four Border Collies and a coordinator of competitions for Southeast Disc Dogs.

If you’ve tried to call Lumpkin County Dispatch and can’t seem to hear anyone, you’re not alone. In a strange glitch, which some are attributing to T-Mobile’s rollout of 5G, some callers are unable to hear anything when they call the non-emergency line.

When she first heard her name over the school intercom, Lumpkin senior Kira May’s mind was racing. “I just remember getting called up to the office one day like ‘ah crap, I’m in trouble or something,’” May said. Then, a sigh of relief. “I thought I got dress-coded,” she said.
