By Jennifer Ramsay The Nugget Officer Chris Weeks of the Dahlonega Police Department was the center of attention at the July City Council meeting, where he received a commendation for his “outstanding service, dedication, and professional attitude” in a recent investigation.
Officials from the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office said that Joshua Arnes Maney of Gainesville has been charged with murder after the fentanyl-induced death of a 33-year-old Dahlonega man last year.

The fentanyl-induced death of a Dahlonega native has resulted in a murder charge for Gainesville resident Joshua Arnes Maney following an extensive investigation, according to officials from the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office.
At DeSoto Falls, multiple hikers saw a woman drop from the top of the rocky falls last Saturday. She was transported via helicopter to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
