Liquor store license awarded by city

Dahlonega’s very first distilled spirits package store license has been awarded to Sonika Ahluwalia, owner of Gold Rush Spirits, LLC. City attorney Doug Parks presented a motion for the council to award the city license at last Monday’s meeting, but that’s not the only motion needed to open.

Short film festival returns to the red carpet

It’s back!  Dahlonega’s own film festival, known as Night at the Movies, will take the stage at The Holly Theatre on August 19. The event, which is hosted by local filmmakers Luke Pilgrim and Brad Kennedy, returns for its fifth year and features eight short films.

Man allegedly confesses to Barrow County murder at City Hall

A Barrow County homicide case took an unexpected local turn last Friday when the main suspect reportedly showed up at the front desk of Dahlonega City Hall and took credit for the crime. “He walked in and said he needed to make a confession,” said Dahlonega Police Chief George Albert.
