Lumpkin softball earns extra innings victory over White County

After knocking in two runs to keep the game alive in the seventh inning, when Amma Johnson came up to bat to begin the ninth inning she wasn’t trying to prolong the game anymore. She was ready to end it. “The first pitch was down the middle, so I couldn’t resist,” Johnson said about the at bat.

Lumpkin cross-country team opens 2020 season

After four failed attempts, the LCHS varsity cross-country team finally kicked off its 2020 season when the Lady Indians and Indians competed in the Union County Invitational held at Meeks Park in Blairsville on Thursday, Sept. 3.

Lumpkin softball team excels in Region play

The LCHS varsity softball team improved its Region 7-AAA record to 5-2 after bouncing back from a non-conference loss to Union County when the Lady Indians defeated conference foes North Hall and Dawson County before dropping a tight game to the region’s top team the Gilmer Lady Bobcats last week.

Lumpkin softball jumps to second place in Region

After surviving a tough non-conference schedule to start the 2020 season, the LCHS varsity softball team’s struggles to score runs vanished when the Lady Indians outscored two Region 7-AAA opponents 31-4 last week to improve to 3-1 in region play and 5-5 overall.
The Lumpkin County Indians football team will finally get a chance to play its first game of the 2020 season this coming Friday, Sept. 4. The Indians will host Franklin County at the Burial Grounds at Cottrell Field. Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m.

The Seniors of Swing, Lumpkin County’s two senior softball squads the Lumpkin County Miners and the Dahlonega Gold, both took to the softball fields last week for Clayton League doubleheaders.

Lumpkin volleyball team improves to 7-1

The LCHS varsity volleyball team continued its hot start to the 2020 season when the Lady Indians went 3-0 last week to improved their overall record to 7-1. “I am just so proud of this team for all that they have accomplished already this season,” said LCHS head volleyball coach Haley Dibble.
