Lumpkin football earns All-Region accolades

The Lumpkin County High School football team saw a historic season on the field and continues to see those achievements pay off. Twenty-one of the teams’ stand-out athletes were awarded All-Region 7-AAA honors.

Girls basketball team looks to regain winning form

After a 1-1 start to the season, the Lumpkin County High School girls basketball team dropped a pair of games to Chestatee and Fannin. On Tuesday, Nov. 28, the Indians (Region 7-AAA) traveled to Gainesville to take on Chestatee High School (Region 8-AAAA).

Wrestling team honors competitors on Senior Night

The Lumpkin County High School wrestling team hosted their Senior Night on November 28. Lumpkin honored a group of eight talented seniors that have been instrumental to the team’s success.

Jones breaks girls basketball scoring record

By Cannon Crompton & Eligha Roper / The Nugget    --------------     The Lumpkin County High School girls’ basketball team opened their 2023-2024 season with two games at the North Hall Thanksgiving Classic.  On Nov. 20 Lumpkin began their season with a 48-42 win against St. Pius X.

Lumpkin football concludes season in State quarterfinals

The Lumpkin County High School football team saw their historic season conclude this week in the State quarterfinals, as the Indians fell to a challenging private school in Savannah Christian. The 42-21 final score doesn’t do justice to what Lumpkin was able to accomplish in the contest.

Wrestling teams continue hard work

The Lumpkin County wrestling teams have been hard at work this week as they competed in several tournaments. The Lady Indians wrestling team took the time to travel out of state to Mobile, Alabama, at the Civic Center to compete in the Gulf Coast Clash, a massive tournament that featured 27 schools.

Middle School tennis team is undefeated regional champ

The middle school tennis squad wrapped up their season as undefeated regional champions, continuing a trend of unforeseen success at the middle school sports level.

Lumpkin wrestling team wins duals

The Lumpkin County High School boys wrestling team had a phenomenal meet this week as they crossed paths with Oconee and Gainesville. The High School Tribe came away with two big wins, the first of which came over Oconee with a score of 57-24, and the second win over Gainesville was 35-25.

Football team wins second playoff game in double overtime

The Lumpkin County High School football team competed in their second round of state playoffs against Oconee this week. The game ultimately came down to the wire. In double overtime, the Indians were able to make history and advance once again 45-42 over Oconee.
