Wrestling team wins Class AAA duals state title

The Lumpkin County High School wrestling team over came all the odds on Saturday January 20 as they battled their way to the GHSA AAA Duals State Championship. Competing in front of a very loud and motivated home cheering section.

Girls basketball team earns upset over White County

The Lady Indians basketball team saw a great start to their week against White County, picking up a huge victory over the Warriors 49-46. The Indians then faced off against Wesleyan on the road and came up short 64-20.

Boys basketball team extends winning streak

The Lumpkin County High School boys’ basketball team moves to six straight wins this week following victories over White County, and Wesleyan. The Indians effectively defeated White County 64-43 and Wesleyan 46-42. The Indians moved to 9-10 overall on the season and 3-4 in Region competition.

Basketball teams look strong in return to action

It has been an impressive and exciting week for all things Lumpkin basketball. Last week, the boys’ and girls’ teams played some of their best games of the season. The boys defeated region rival Dawson County 53-44 and Murray County 40-37, improving to four straight wins.

Rifle team faces off with Bulldogs

The Lumpkin County High School rifle team battled North Gwinnett High School last week.  The Indians came into the matchup ranked second overall and expected a very competitive meet against third-ranked Bulldogs.

Girls wrestling finishes second at Area Duals

The Lady Indians wrestling team competed in their Area 7-AAA Championship Duals at home on Friday, January 12. The Tribe battled to a runner-up finish after falling by just a single point to Gilmer 39-38.

It’s no secret that Lumpkins’ current athletic success started with the catalytic spark of the 2022-23 football team. Since that season, Lumpkin has become a big purple machine of steamrolling success both academically and athletically.

Middle School basketball topples Fannin Rebels

The Lumpkin County Middle School boys basketball teams took on the second-seeded Fannin County Rebels at home this week and came away with two big wins. Both games were highly contested bouts that came down to the final quarter.

Wrestling team wins Area 7-AAA Championship

The Lumpkin County High School wrestling team competed in their Area 7-AAA Championships on Saturday, January 6, and ended their day as Champions. This was the team’s first wrestling Area Championship in the last seven years. The team had a dominant display over some tough competition.

Football team continues to rack up postseason awards

The postseason awards continue to roll in for the Lumpkin County High School football team following the squad’s historic season. This week, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution released its All-State team recognitions for the state.
