Lumpkin tennis team is moving forward in the State Playoffs

It was a knockdown drag-out brawl for the Indians tennis team as they made the long trip to Oconee to clash with the Warriors. Coming into the big showdown, both teams knew they were in for a battle, and each hoped to punch their tickets to the Elite Eight.

Girl’s soccer wraps up State Playoff run in Oconee

The Lady Indians soccer season reached its end this week as the team ventured to Oconee County. The squad came up short to the Warriors by a score of 4-0. Despite falling to a very tough team in the State Playoffs the squad still put together an outstanding season.

Lumpkin team speeds through Area track meet

The Indians blazed a trail of success at the AAA Area Seven Regional track meet at White County High School, leaving their competition in the dust. With their elite performances and impressive placements, several athletes have secured their spots in the upcoming sectionals.

Track team competes at Gilmer showdown

Lumpkin County High School track star Wyatt Windham continued his impressive season this week in Gilmer, among several other impressive finishes. Windham’s 9:28.44 3200 meter finish placed him among the state’s top 25 runners and reached Milesplits’ US second-team standard.

Baseball team closes out season with a big win

The Indians walked things off against the Wesleyan Wolves, picking up a  big regional victory. The Wolves came into the matchup as the second-ranked team in the region. After suffering two defeats at the hands of the Indians, they fell to third with a region record of 10-8.

Wrestlers compete in Freco and World Team Trials

It was another busy week for several Lumpkin wrestlers. They competed in a USA Wrestling tournament in Commerce, and Lumpkin athlete Greta Garbuzovas competed in the Marine Corps Women’s Nationals Championships (world team trials) in Spokane, Washington.

LCMS soccer earns league runner-up

The Lumpkin County Middle School boys soccer team wrapped up their season in the Mountain League Championships on Tuesday, April 9 against the Clear Creek Bobcats. The game was very tightly contested and ultimately decided by a penalty kick shootout. In the end, the Indians fell 5-4.

LCHS soccer teams top Pickens with shut-out wins

The LCHS soccer teams were victorious as they visited the Dragon’s Den this week, and both varsity squads were able to pick up victories. The boys routed the Dragons with a decisive 7-0 victory. The girls squad won their matchup 4-0. Pickens was each team’s final regional matchup of the season.

Lumpkin baseball team picks up wins in Myrtle Beach tournament

Last week, Myrtle Beach hosted the Lumpkin County baseball team. The squad competed against several teams from different states, including Highland Regional from Blackwood, New Jersey, Greece Athena from Rochester, New York and Riverdale Baptist from Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
