Coach Hage continues legacy of success at Lumpkin

Lumpkin County High School track and cross-country athlete Wyatt Windham was given the opportunity to compete among the state’s high school elite at the Peachtree Road Race on the 4th of July.  Windham came away with a great finish in a stacked event featuring 42,000 plus competitors.

Windham shines in Peachtree Road Race

Local athlete Wyatt Windham competed in the high school athlete portion of the Atlanta Peachtree 10k race on July 4. Windham raced among 43,195 other competitors who turned out for the event. Overall, he placed 88th, 77th by gender, and 9th out of males aged 15-19.

Firecracker 5K challenges runners with fun course

Lumpkin County hosted its annual Firecracker 5K on the morning of the Fourth of July to kick off all the Independence Day festivities. The event turned out to be a big success, with 185 registered participants.

Football camp sees record-breaking turnout

Young athletes turned out to last week’s annual Lumpkin County Football Summer Camp in droves. This year’s camp saw a record-breaking 130-plus campers join in on the summertime festivities.

Hester competes in Prep Baseball Nationals

Lumpkin County athletes continue to show up and out at the national level. Multiple-sport athlete Mason Hester had the opportunity to compete in the Prep Baseball National Championships and came away with an impressive performance.

Future track stars hone skills at summer camp

Future sprinters, throwers, and long jumpers took on the summer heat this week at the annual Lumpkin County Track Summer camp. The young athletes worked alongside track and cross-country coaches and several big-name athletes from this year’s very successful track season.

Mountain bike athletes make podium at Nationals

Lumpkin County had two athletes representing the Indians at the recent Mountain Biking Marathon Nationals in Auburn, Alabama, on June 15. Local athletes competing on the National stage included Shiloh  Claussen and Asher Boegner.  Each athlete came away with podium finishes.

Local bass teams set to compete in Bass Master Nationals

The Georgia High School Bass fishing season has been red hot lately, with several local athletes breaking into the Nationals tournament, which is set to take place on August 1-3 at Lake Chickamauga. Those athletes include Walker Grizzle, Cooper McDonald, Levi Self and Carter Lee.
