Lumpkin softball picks up region wins over Dawson and GAC

The Lumpkin County High School varsity softball team picked up two regional wins this week. The first came over region rivals Dawson by a decisive margin of 11-6. Their second win of the week came over Greater Atlanta Christian with a score of 15-4.
Mike Davenport will join the coaching staff at UGA following a very successful run with the University of North Georgia.  Davenport said he is grateful for all the invaluable memories he created as a Nighthawk.

Davenport moving on after successful career with UNG softball

After a decade of dominance as the University of North Georgia’s Head Softball Coach, Mike Davenport has announced his resignation. Davenport looks to continue his established success in the foreseeable future as an Assistant Coach for the Georgia Bulldogs.

Cross country starts season with impressive showing

It was full steam ahead this week for the Lumpkin County High School Cross Country team. The squad made the trip down to Atlanta to compete in the Kosh Klassic against some of the state’s best teams. Head Coach Logan Turner couldn’t be more excited to get the season underway.

Lumpkin football team falls in tough battle at the Bluff

The Lumpkin County High School football team kicked off their season against Cherokee Bluff on Friday in a defensive onslaught that saw the Bears defeat the Indians 31-20. It was a battle that even a two-hour rain delay couldn’t hinder. After the delay and 10:50 p.m.

Lumpkin softball gets revenge for previous loss to Chattahoochee

The Lady Indians softball team had a hectic week, competing in four individual games. The Indians started their week off on Tuesday, opening Regional play against Pickens County, coming up short 3-2.

The Varsity Indians football team trampled through the gates of Sparta this week as they took on West Hall. The Tribe ultimately came out on top, defeating the Spartans 34-9 in their final tune-up ahead of next week’s season opening kickoff.

Lumpkin volleyball sees a busy start to season

The Lumpkin County volleyball team hit the ground running this week, competing in four matches in just their first week of competition. The Indians faced Gainesville, Jackson County, Rabun County and West Hall. The squad split the games, ending the week with an overall record of 2-2.

The Lumpkin County softball team split their games this week, taking a 14-6 win over Forsyth Central at home and coming up short 10-4 to Chattahoochee on the UNG softball field. The Indians now move to 3-2 overall.

Softball sees successful start in non-region competition

The Lumpkin County High School softball team had a great start to their season last week, clashing with Rabun County, Grayson and Lanier. The team ended the week with an overall record of 2-1.

Lumpkin standouts now competing for UNG women’s basketball

Two of Lumpkin’s home-court athletes, Isabel Davenport and Lexi Pierce, have soared since becoming  University of North Georgia Nighthawks. And soon LCHS standout Averie Jones will join them on the court.
