Volleyball team competes in State Playoffs

The LCHS varsity volleyball’s 2019 season came to an end when the Lady Indians were defeated in straight sets by Calhoun in the first round of the GHSA State Volleyball Playoffs on Saturday, Oct. 19.

Cross country readies for Region Championships

The LCHS cross country team completed its final two meets of the 2019 regular season when they competed in the RMA Fall Runaway and the Pickens Invitational in preparation for the upcoming Region Championships at Unicoi State Park on Thursday, Oct. 24.

The LCHS varsity football team’s tough times on the gridiron during the 2019 season continued last week when the Indians fell to conference foe Cherokee Bluff 45-14 during Homecoming Night at the Burial Grounds at Cottrell Field last Friday, Oct 11.

Seventh grade Indians advance to championship

The LCMS seventh grade football team remained undefeated on the season and punched its ticket to the Mountain League Championship game when the Indians handed the Gilmer County Bobcats a 38-8 loss in the Mountain League semifinals at LCMS stadium on Thursday, Oct. 10.

The LCHS varsity softball team advanced to the Sweet 16 of the GHSA in come-from-behind fashion when the Lady Indians downed the Westminster Lady Wildcats in a best-of-three series in the first round of the GHSA State Softball Playoffs last week.

The LCHS varsity volleyball team completed a successful 2019 season and punched its ticket to the GHSA Volleyball State Playoffs when the Lady Indians posted a 2-2 record during the Area Championship Tournament hosted at North Hall High School last week.

Senior Softball - Miners finish third at League Championships

The Seniors of Swing, Lumpkin County’s two senior softball teams the Lumpkin County Miners and the Dahlonega Gold, concluded their 2019 Clayton League season when they participated in the league championship tournament at the Parker Meadows Softball Complex in Franklin, N.C. on Wednesday, Oct. 2.

Cross country teams continue improvement

The LCHS cross country team continued to improve when the Indians and Lady Indians competed in the Indian Invitational and the Runners Fit Mountain Invitational last week. The team started the week with its lone home meet of the 2019 season on Monday, Sept. 30, at LCHS.

Lumpkin softball team ready to host playoff games

The Region 7-AAA championship series didn’t go the way that the Lady Indians softball team had hoped when Lumpkin was swept by East Hall in the conference’s best-of-three championship series last week.

Middle School football pummels Panthers to secure playoff berth

The LCMS eighth grade football team secured regular season runner-up honors and the opportunity to host the Mountain League semifinals when they defeated the Union County Panthers 32-20 in the Indians’ final regular season game of 2019 last Thursday, Oct. 3.
