After allowing Cherokee Bluff to make a comeback just before halftime, cutting the Indians’ lead to three points, LCHS girls’ basketball head coach David Dowse emphasized playing hard for the first three minutes of the second half. Point guard Isabelle Davenport took that to heart and came out of the locker room scorching hot from behind the arc, scoring 11 of her 23 points in the third quarter to put the Bears away and secure the 57-33 win for Lumpkin. “The thing about Isabelle is she is a really coachable kid and you can get on her a little bit and she responds,” Dowse said. “And that’s kind of what happened right there: ‘Isabelle we need you to score, we need you to make those shots that you were taking.’ They were good shots and she made them.”
