In May the Lumpkin County Board of Education named U.S. Army veteran and Hall County teacher Libbie Armstrong to replace outgoing administrator Nathan Gerrells as the new principal of Lumpkin County Middle School for the 2024-2025 academic year.

County Commission hears noise ordinance feedback

Online confusion was apparently responsible for uneven enforcement of the new amplified sound ordinance passed by the County in December of 2023.

At the last work session of the Lumpkin County Board of Education, members heard a presentation from Dr. Libby Bicknell, the Director in charge of brand new daycare and pre-K services set to open their doors with the next school year.

A group of around 30 interested citizens and candidates gathered at the election office on Short Street Tuesday to view results after polls closed on the May 21 General Primary. At close to 9 p.m.

Local residents braved early thunderstorms on Monday to commemorate Memorial Day and honor service members and their families. Organizers made the decision to move the 10 a.m. program into the lobby of the old courthouse due to the heavy morning rain.

It’s all about time for the Sunrise Rotary Club and the City of Dahlonega. That’s the idea behind a significant donation from the local club which will soon provide for a $27,000 four-sided post clock on the south side of the Public Square.
