It appears that Lumpkin County High School Principal Billy Kirk will be moving on to a new stage in his prolific educational career, as Kirk was recently named sole finalist to become the next Superintendent of the Commerce City School System.

The Lumpkin County Board of Commissioners appears ready to approve the purchase of a new high tech security device, the Tek84 Intercept Body Scanner, at their regular session next week.

The City of Dahlonega officially has a new downtown park. And it will look a lot like a current downtown park. Conner Memorial Garden, located on the corner of Warwick and North Chestatee streets, has been purchased by the City for a total of $200,000.

New business owner looks to build on local tradition

A well-known local construction business is under new leadership.  Appalachian Contracting Services, started by Jim and Nancy Combs in 1988, has a new owner, as Beau Hughes recently took over at the local company.
