Volunteers help decorate Downtown for Old Fashioned Christmas

It’s that time of year again.  Downtown Dahlonega will bring the joy of the Christmas season with its yearly tradition of an “Old Fashioned Christmas.”  Old Fashioned Christmas begins with a special evening of events on Friday, November 24 at sundown.

Planning Commission scrutinizes housing complex proposal

The City of Dahlonega Planning Commission voted Wednesday to table a proposal for a large mixed-use development near Pinetree Way. The new proposal calls for 228 townhouse units (a mix of two and three bedrooms) along with 8,860 square feet of commercial space.

The brick ban has begun for city mailboxes. New regulations were made official last Monday as a majority of council members approved a measure that will phase out the monument style boxes within the city limits of Dahlonega.

A drawing by 11th-grader Amelia Taylor has been chosen as the winner of the 2023 Old Fashioned Christmas T-shirt contest.  Old Fashioned Christmas is a family-friendly celebration organized by the Dahlonega Downtown Business Association’s Christmas committee during the month of December.
