After recently posting the highest SAT scores in the region (and ninth highest in the state) the Lumpkin County school system has notched another big win, recording the second highest graduation rate in Georgia.

National Domestic Violence Awareness Month falls in October each year, and this year NOA (No One Alone), Lumpkin and Dawson counties’ domestic violence shelter program, plans to have a presence at Gold Rush Days and The Moonshine Festival.

Candidates drop from City races

And then there were six.  The number of candidates running for Dahlonega City Council suddenly dropped by two last week after Erin Seng and Noah Steinberg both sent word that they are bowing out of their respective races.

It’s shaping up to be a long winter for local fans of a simple, yet famous, fast food formula: one lightly breaded chicken breast with two pickle chips on a toasted bun. Chick-fil-A Dahlonega will temporarily close its doors on Thursday, September 28 at 2 p.m.

The Lumpkin County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the addition of six new Flock Traffic Safety Cameras at their regular monthly session, a move that will bring the total number of active cameras in the community to eight.
