Murals are out and holiday inflatables are in after the Dahlonega City Council officially signed off on a new ordinance regulating businesses and homes within the city limits.

Postal problems in state draw political pressure

Nugget named top paper at Georgia Press Awards

It was a generally excellent night for The Dahlonega Nugget at the annual Georgia Press Association Awards last Friday as the local newspaper took top honors for the year, including 17 individual awards and an elusive first place for General Excellence.

County Commission hears noise ordinance feedback

Online confusion was apparently responsible for uneven enforcement of the new amplified sound ordinance passed by the County in December of 2023.

At the last work session of the Lumpkin County Board of Education, members heard a presentation from Dr. Libby Bicknell, the Director in charge of brand new daycare and pre-K services set to open their doors with the next school year.

New monument unveiled during Lumpkin County Memorial Day ceremony

Local residents braved early thunderstorms on Monday to commemorate Memorial Day and honor service members and their families. Organizers made the decision to move the 10 a.m. program into the lobby of the old courthouse due to the heavy morning rain.
