Fleeing suspect nabbed in Pickens County

At first it appeared as though the suspect involved in an alleged Lumpkin County shooting was going to pull over peacefully and quietly onto the side of Highway 136 last Tuesday night.  Then he floored it.

HOSA students participate in service project

“Adopt, don’t shop!”  That was the motto of Lumpkin County High School sophomores Blakely Bell, Josie Tullis, Helana Tullis and Emma Rodriguez this school year as they participated in a local service project for HOSA.  HOSA is a Future Health Professionals Club for students recognized by the U.S.

With one goal in mind, racers of all ages gathered outside Lumpkin County High School to battle it out for the title of Grocery Grand Prix champion last Saturday morning.

Dahlonega has been recognized as part of the Arbor Day Foundation’s Tree City USA program.

Century-old house could move from historic area

A well-known home inside the City’s historic district could find itself relocated to another piece of property, depending on the recommendations of the Dahlonega Historic Preservation Commission.

Driveway on fire station property receives approval from County

The County has approved a request to add a second, shared easement on its Fire Station #3 property located on 1016 Yahoola Road. The new section of road will facilitate access to a 40-acre parcel of landlocked property owned by state Senator and long-time Dahlonega resident Steve Gooch.
