The Mayor and City Council welcomed representatives from the Dahlonega Tree Committee, City Hall, City Public Works Department, and the Dahlonega Downtown Development Authority and Mainstreet Program to last week’s tree planting ceremony. Dahlonega has been recognized as part of the Arbor Day Foundation’s Tree City USA program.

A well-known home inside the City’s historic district could find itself relocated to another piece of property, depending on the recommendations of the Dahlonega Historic Preservation Commission.

Driveway on fire station property receives approval from County

The County has approved a request to add a second, shared easement on its Fire Station #3 property located on 1016 Yahoola Road. The new section of road will facilitate access to a 40-acre parcel of landlocked property owned by state Senator and long-time Dahlonega resident Steve Gooch.

Field house upgrades a possibility for football stadium

An expanded field house may be on the horizon for the Lumpkin County High School football and soccer teams. Chief Operations Officer Greg Trammell revealed the tentative plan during a facilities project update at the Lumpkin County Board of Education meeting last Wednesday.
