There was a solemn atmosphere in the Dahlonega City Hall meeting room Monday evening as council member Roman Gaddis read out an unexpected motion that resulted in the termination of the employment of City Manager Bill Schmid.

By David Williams & Matt Aiken -- Capitol Beat News & The Nugget Early voting in Georgia ahead of the May 24 primaries is breaking records, defying the historical trend of lower turnouts in non-presidential election years.
Jane Mullinax was named the Director of Accountability for Lumpkin County Schools. Sara Fain was selected as the new principal of Long Branch Elementary School. Cindy Hunsinger will be the new Assistant Principal of Lumpkin County Elementary School. Erick Hofstetter, currently in Paulding County, was approved as the Chief Financial Officer for Lumpkin County Schools.
