A man known for his years of service to his family, the nation and Lumpkin County is gone from the community. Kelso Crowder “Casey” Horne Jr. passed away March 19 at the age of 77.

Broadband in Lumpkin gets $11.8 million boost

The Development Authority of Lumpkin County and Windstream are in the process of planning where nearly $12 million will be spent to expand broadband to Lumpkin County. The federal government awarded the county $8.1 million and a state grant for $3.7 million was assigned to the Development Authority.

Post 5 of the Dahlonega City Council has been filled. On Monday, the city council voted to appoint local business owner Lance Taylor Bagley to the empty seat following a blind vote by the council members.
